The Real Truth About MLM Leads
There are a lot of ways to build up your MLM business. One of the most popular methods used by the masses in the MLM industry is leads. Yet, it is no mystery that most MLMer’s who have used leads in the traditional since (meaning to call them and sell your MLM business) have had either a very large learning curve or no success whatsoever.
So what’s the real truth about MLM leads? Do they work? Can you make money using them? Are they a viable way to build your business? The answer is yes and no.
You see, the fact is, most people will not tell you the entire truth about leads. Instead, they hope to profit off of you by telling you half truths. They hope that by doing so you will buy more of their products and coaching programs, until, in the end, you end up spending thousands before you get the true results you are looking for.
Please don’t be mistaken, coaching programs and ebooks are awesome ways to learn how to do build your business. There are some excellent books that really do an excellent job and some that even over-deliver on their results. But what I have a problem with is when ebooks and coaching programs lead people on without giving them the complete system that they have advertised. That, unfortunately, happens far too often.
Okay-enough of my ranting. Back to business.
So are leads a good way to build your business? Yes, but only if you know which ones to look for, and how to use them correctly. So how do you do that?
First, let me start by saying that, unless you enjoy calling leads every single day, or unless you’re good at that sort of thing, I would not call leads to build my business. There are far better ways and cheaper ways to build your MLM business with leads. I personally use two methods to build my business. Here is my first method to using leads effectively to build your business.
Method #1: The Pre-Enrollee Method
- You have to have an automated system in place: I know I preach this a lot, but, honestly, you cannot build a business on autopilot without some sort of automated system in place. Plus, since I only use automated systems for my business, you’re going to hear this from me time and time again. To find out what an automated system is click here
- You have to buy exclusive leads: These are leads that only you use and that are not resold. Simply call your lead company and ask if they offer exclusive leads that have not been resold. I recommend using pre-enrollees, or your companies advertising. These should be non-incentivized exclusive leads. My favorite lead company for these types of leads is called preenrollees4sale.com
- Follow up with your pre-enrollees with a set of emails: Create a set of follow-up emails (5 or 6) to build a relationship and explain why your opportunity is so good.
Now, if you are not able to buy exclusive leads or pre-enrollees for your business there is still another extremely effective method I use to build traffic for my website. In tomorrow’s post, I will show you a second way you can build your business with no calling and no selling whatsoever.
How to Create an Income on Autopilot-Part 3

So, now that you have your automated marketing system in place, you now need to start getting traffic to your site—But not just any traffic, you need to get targeted traffic that will buy from you. But how do you do that? Well, today’s post will focus on this very thing.
So where can you go to get traffic to your website? Well, let me name a few of my favorites.
- Your company or team’s advertising packages: This, I have found, is one of the absolute best ways to build up your downline. Your company or team has a vested interest in providing you, the distributor with advertising that produces results. So, if your company has it, I would recommend investing in their coop before any other advertising.
- Blogging: Blogging is an incredibly powerful way to drive a ton of people to your opportunity, if you know how to do it right. I learned everything I know about blogging from Alvin Phang’s Atomic Blogging. If you buy any book on blogging, I recommend this one the most.
- Articles: Articles marketing can be a great way to increase links to your site as well as traffic.
- Press Releases: The right places press release will soar your traffic.
- Ezines: Outside of company or team co-op or advertising packages, this is my second most favorite advertising resources. Picking the right ezine advertising can add as much as 5 to 10 people to your downline with a single post.
- PPC: PPC can take a while to get up and going, but once you do, it is one of the best sources of targeted continuous traffic that you can get. Beware: PPC can get very expensive quick, so be sure to set a small budget at first and grow it once you’ve got some keywords that are really pulling in results.
The truth is traffic is one of the easiest things to come across. All you have to do is go out there and get it. Now I don’t want to paint the picture that you can go anwhere and get good traffic. If it was that easy, there would be a lot more millionaires online and a lot less people struggling. So here are some things that I do to make sure that my business is successful within 30-60 days.
1. Create a budget: You need to have a budget that you are willing to spend each month. If your budget is $50.00, you need to be sure that you use that $50.00 toward advertising each and every month. And don’t be cheap or too lavish with your spending. Spend what you can afford each month, with the knowledge of knowing you will loose money and gain money as you continue to search for quality traffic sources.
2. Test, test, test: Okay, if you have been online for any period of time, you have heard about the importance of testing your advertising resources. I cannot stress how important this step is. If you don’t test, you are pretty much throwing away money. Now, there are all sorts of tracking systems out there. I personally use hypertracker.
3. Use your profits to build your current advertising budget: Once you find some ads that pull in sales, you then have to reinvest your money back into your marketing and conversion. Remember marketing and conversion is the name of the game when you look at any online marketing campaign. If your traffic is targeted and your conversion is high, you lose less on advertising and make much more money quicker.

- A continuous flow of targeted online traffic to your website.
- An easy way for your downline to duplicate your efforts.
However, most people in MLM know nothing about how to go about doing any of these things. So, how can an average Joe get ahead in online marketing. The answer is Replicated Business Builders.
So What the heck is a replicated business builder?
A replicated business builder is a marketing system that is put in place allows you to literally build your business with just the push of a button.
In fact, the right replicated business builder can literally send your MLM business soaring overnight. This is how the online gurus like Mike G, Rachel Long, Jeff Mills and Brad Weinman are able to literally build downlines from nothing to thousands per week.
So How Do I Get One of These Replicated Business Builders?
Well, there are three different types of Replicated Business Builders
- Ones offered by your upline or your company: These, I have found, are the best for newbies to marketing because they are often carefully tested for conversion and very cheap (usually around $10.00-$25.00 per month.) Usually thousand of dollars have been put into these systems in order to make sure that they will work well for you. Many even offer co-op advertising that you can use to build your team from day one. The only down side to it is that a ton of people have the same lead capture page as you do, and this can effect how many people will sign up for your opportunity down the line. Plus you do usually do not get to build your own list. An example of a very good replicated business builder is The Berry Tree
- Ones you create yourself: These are also good because you have the most control over them, and they allow you to build incredibly huge downlines in no-time flat. The only problem with this is that it can be incredibly expensive to do, and will require lots of testing on your part. I would recommend this to someone with a little money.
- Third Party listbuilders: These can be also be very good, and will help you build your downline, but, again, you have to be very careful not to use it as your only listbuilding source. Examples of these are (Magnetic Sponsoring, List bandit, and List Joe)
So, here is what I do
1. Find the online business builders for your team or company: I never join a company that does not have some sort of business builder in place. I would ask my upline or company if there was some sort business builder in place that you can use to help build your business. Also, look for all-in-one solutions. You want to find business builders that have some sort of co-op or marketing in place.
2. If your MLM business does not have any business builder system in place, either create your own, use a third party, or find another opportunity: Again, if you are already invested in a company, it may benefit you to look into some type of third party business builder, or to build one yourself. However, if you are just looking I would recommend looking for a business with a replicated business builder included. It will save you a ton of time and money.
So, now you have what you think is a very good business builder in place. The next step is to create a constant flow of traffic to your website. In Part 3 of our series, we will explore exactly how to do that.

I often laugh at how easy it truly can be to make money off the web, especially in MLM. True, there are some scam artists out there who will try to run away with your money. But, overall, I am often amazed at how many really good opportunities there are out there to build up a team, and, truth be told, it really does not take that much to do it. Yet time and time again people tell me that they are failing at making money on the internet… It’s absolutely crazy!
So today, I am going to show you a little known secret that I use, in order to build my downline starting from day 1—and that secret is Replicated Business Builders.
The Power of Replicated Business Builders in MLM
In today’s day and age the absolute easiest way to build an international downline is online. However, in order to succeed in marketing your MLM business online, you have to have 4 things.
- A professional website that will capture your prospect’s information, and sell the opportunity for you.
- An autoresponder that will follow up with your prospects, build trust, and make them want to sign up for your opportunity.
- A continuous flow of targeted online traffic to your website.
- An easy way for your downline to duplicate your efforts.
If you have these four things, you can build a huge downline in any business virtually on autopilot, and with very little effort on your part. But if you’re missing just one of these major pieces, your downline will fall apart before it has even begun.
Now, if you are reading this, and you are like most MLMers out there, chances are you don’t…
- Know how to build a website
- Know how to set up an autoresponder. Heck, you might not even know what an autoresponder is.
- Know where to go to really get affordable targeted traffic to your site.
If you do know how to do one or more of these things, consider yourself one step ahead of the rest. Also, I want you to understand that you are an exception to the rule, and not the norm.
So, how in the world can a regular joe with no computer skills get a professional website to capture leads, an autoresponder with successful emails to build trust with my prospects, and a continuous flow of online traffic to my website? And let’s say I figure all that out. Let’s say I learn how to create my own website, and get the autoresponder in place, and I get traffic to my site. After all that, how do I teach my downline to do the same? The answer is simple—Replicated Business Builders.

Stop Waisting your Money on Renamed Systems: The truth is, MLM is MLM!
I want to write this post in response to a lot of the things happening in mlm today. I keep seeing advertisings for companie that say—”NOT MLM” yet, when you read their print, and view their videos, everything they say reaks MLM.
Let me just say this. I don’t care what it’s named—Direct Marketing, Reverse Funnel systems, Traffic Geyser System, Cooperative Marketing– No matter how you slice it, MLM is MLM.
If it…
- Has a system in place where you can leverage your efforts by recruiting multiple distributors and teaching how to do what you do.
- Allows you to profit off of multiple tiers (be it a powerline, 1 ups, 2 ups, steamline income systems, binaries, you name it.)
If it contains these properties, then it’s an MLM!! The concept is the same. You still have to build and recruit to make money.
So, why change the name? Well, the truth is, MLM get’s a bad rep. Since so many people start in MLM as their first business, they often fail. This leaves a bad taste in their mouths. So, those people who are trying to sell you into their downline change the names, so that you can feel comfortable getting in. However, no matter how you slice it, if the principles are the same, then you will have the exact same problem as someone else in a different.
To be honest, there is absolutely nothing wrong with MLM. It’s one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money, if you know how you are doing. Yet so many fail because they just plain don’t have a clue. They rely on horrible uplines, false promises from bad companies.
Don’t get sold on hype..
You see, the problem is most people get sold on hype instead if on cold hard facts. They allow themselves to get sucked in, without even checking to see the legitimacy of their team and opportunity. So, here are some questions you should ask your leader for when joining any MLM
1. How do you market your business?
2. Do you have any downline who are having success with this system? Can I speak with them?
3. If I follow your system, how long, on average will it take befor I start seeing some results?
If the person hands you smoke and mirrors, and can’t answer these three questions, don’t join. Even after that, you have to research the legitimacy of the company.
I always check on mlmwatchdog.com to make sure that there are no pending lawsuits on a company. I also check the BBB if they are a part of it as well. I also check to make sure the company is debt free, and has been around for more than 2 years.
These are my safeguards. Tomorrow, I will show you a little know secret that you can use, to make money in an MLM within a week, guaranteed.
Picking the right MLM Can Virtually Guarantee Success, if you Know What to look for…

You know, I have had a lot of experience off and on over the years in the field of Network Marketing, and I have grown from building my own list to building my downline completely on autopilot with no calling or selling whatsoever.
And what I have found over the years is that you can pretty much guarantee success for yourself in almost any business in MLM if you know how to find the right opportunity and the right team to lead you to success.
Now I know that a lot of readers looking at this may think that I sound a bit cliché when I tell you this, but trust me when I say this. When you know how to look for the right opportunity, you will be successful. The problem is, most people don’t know how to do this correctly. So here is the process that I follow when I look for when I get involved in any opportunity.
1.) I look for the method of marketing: I always look at the method of marketing being used to promote that business opportunity. Are they building a list of friends and family? Are they marketing using postcards or over the internet? You want to be sure you know that they have a sure fire marketing system in place that you would be comfortable doing. If you don’t feel you would be comfortable building a company by asking your friends and family, then don’t join.
Whenever I look at an opportunity, I try to make sure that I would be able to promote it in a way that would require as little work as possible for me. Sure I could create my own automated system, and use that. But, would my downline be able to do the same? I would much rather have some sort of automated system in place that I can promote right away with very little effort on my part.
2.) I look at the stability and reputation of the company and the marketing system: Once I have found a few opportunities I may be interested in, I research the company , the reputation of the marketing system I may be using. I never join a company that has not been around for several years. I want to be sure that the company I am joining is stable and secure. I also research the leaders in the company. I call them, and test the waters with them. I see which ones are responsive and which ones aren’t. I also talk to downline members to see what they think, and what success they have had on that team.
3.) I look for an all in one solution: Finally, I want to be sure that the company provides a way for anyone to succeed. I look for monthly co-ops through the company or team I would be on, or ways to benefit from company advertising. I find out what the average success rate of a campaign would be and how much I would need to spend in advertising to reach my goal in 12 months.
4.) I see if the opportunity would be cost effective: This is not as big of an issue for me as it would be for others, but I do still research how cost effective an opportunity would be for an average Joe trying to start up and make money with a particular system. I want to make sure that my future downline won’t go broke trying to promote the opportunity.
Once I have all these pieces in place, I can be about 95%-99% sure that I will be able to make money with this opportunity. I don’t let fast talkers sell me, I don’t buy into the hype.
